口头语的口译法基本上可以归纳为两种:直译和意译;有时也可借用一些固定的汉英口头语的译法.下面是一些常用口头用语和表达法的口译例子，可供口译时参考.
1.尾巴翘上了天:(指骄傲)，即to be very cocky.此处意译比较贴切传神.
2.打开天窗说亮话:此口头语宜意译为佳，能明确表达原意，故可口译为to put all one's cards on the table.
3.好说歹说:意为“费了许多口舌进行解释、说服”，故可口译为:to use all means of persuasion.
4.不管三七二十一:此系口头语，意为“不论你说什么、做什么”。口译时可用no matter what you may say或者用no matter what you may do表达。
5.一个巴掌拍不响:这句话从汉语角度来说，很形象。但口译中将“巴掌”直译出来，恐怕听话人还不太好理解。因此按其意译为:It takes two to make a quarrel.
6.吃力不讨好:此语可译为do a thankless job.
7.假冒伪劣商品:fake and poor quality commodities.
8.调动积极性:to arouse the enthusiasm of...
9.旧瓶装新酒:new wine in old bottles.此语直译，与原话贴切，而且也生动。
10.捡了芝麻，丢了西瓜:此语曾大量被引用，其意说明“抓了次要事务，却丢了重要事情”。建议译为:to concentrate on minor matters to the neglect of major ones.
11.说三道四:to make carping comments.
12.人怕出名猪怕壮:Great honors are great burdens.
13.脱胎换骨:此语宜按意口译为“to turn on a new leaf"，比较简单、贴切。
14.转正:to convert the status of... to ...
